Anamudi Peak
Nestled inside Eravikulam National Park, is the elephant’s forehead resembling peak famously known as the Anamudi Peak. Situated at the altitude of 8842 feet the peak is the highest known peak in all of South India. Tourists who visit Eravikulam National Park also trek for the Anamudi peak. Although there is no entry fee involved to trek on the peak but you have to take special permission in order to enter as it is done to protect the delicate ecosystem of the peak. Once at the top it is a heaven for photographers as they can experience panoramic views of the valley below. It is believed that General Douglas Hamilton was the first person to climb this peak in 1862. The abundance of Blackwood Trees and Teak Trees covering the whole peak makes it a great picnic spot for those tourists who don’t want to trek and just want to relax and in the tranquility of woods.
Timings – 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Best time to visit – From November to May
None but special permission from Forest Department necessary.
