Mattupetty Dam
Also known as Madupetty and located at a height of 1700 meters above sea level lies a Dam in the lush hills of Kerala near Anamudi Peak called Mattupetty Dam. Built in the 1940s for hydroelectricity generation and supporting irrigation, the dam is now a famous tourist spot. Boating, Trekking, Wildlife Spotting and Photography are some activities that are enjoyed when they visited. The dam can hold up to 55.4 million cubic meters of water in it. Another attraction of the dam is the Mattupetty Indo-Swiss Dairy Farm, where they breed high-yielding cow breeds. Tourists can also spot Elephants here as they usually drop by to drink water from the Madupetty Lake. Just a 13 km drive from Munnar, visiting here is a must.
